Rooftop Bees
Meet John Prince
After 16 years in the corporate world, John Prince found his true calling among the bees. What began as a personal shift towards purpose and sustainability grew into Rooftop Bees - a movement that brings people and nature closer together.
Since founding the business in 2019, John has transformed city skylines into thriving ecosystems, installing hives atop commercial buildings across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Today, Rooftop Bees manages hives for more than 50 leading organisations, helping them foster biodiversity, earn green building credits, and connect communities through nature.
For John, caring for bees is both a responsibility and a reminder that every hive is a small act of environmental restoration. As he often says, “We’re not saving the bees; the bees are saving us.”
We’ve always believed that natural health & a healthy ecosystem starts with the hive. And because we rely on the richness of its gifts, it’s only fair we give back - to the pollinators who make it possible, to the local beekeepers we proudly collaborate with, and to the communities we serve.
That’s why with every jar of our Manuka Honey sold, we've pledged to donate a native tree to help restore healthy habitats and protect their future. Our commitment to a better future extends to our special collaborations with local beekeepers, helping to support both native tree planting and stronger futures for the people caring for our bees.
How we make an impact

Rooted in Regeneration
We’ve pledged to donate a native tree to Carbon Positive Australia for every jar of honey sold on our website. These trees restore vital bee habitats, improve biodiversity, and regenerate land that was once barren - creating a healthier environment for pollinators and people alike.
We’ve pledged to donate a native tree to Regenerate Australia (formally known as Carbon Positive Australia) for every jar of honey sold on our website. These trees restore vital bee habitats, improve biodiversity, and regenerate land that was once barren - creating a healthier environment for pollinators and people alike.
Together, we’re building a more sustainable future:
Native tree planting to restore pollinator habitats
Reforesting degraded land to improve biodiversity
Supporting long-term carbon capture projects across Australia
