5 EASY things you can do for simply beautiful skin

Beautiful skin is not just about what you put ON your skin, it’s also about what you put IN your body.

There are so many skincare solutions available, but don’t forget these simple daily actions you can take to create stronger, more beautiful skin every day.

Here are 5 of the best:

1. Maximise your hydration

Dehydration increases the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the face and on the body. Nutritionist and whole food expert, Agnesa Simcic says a good guide for your personal water needs is 30ml of water per kg of your body weight.

“You might need more if you do lots of exercise, or activities that increase sweating,” she said, adding “lifestyle choices like drinking coffee and alcohol also increase your need for clean, fresh water.”

Good quality drinking water is a must. Using a water filter at home will help remove chemicals from your water supply and improves the quality of your personal hydration.

Of course, you also take in lots of water with a diet full of fresh fruit and vegetables. Which is Agnesa’s next tip for healthy, glowing skin…

2. Eat more of these fruits and vegetables

The best vitamins for beautiful skin are Vitamins A, C and E. These are essential for tissue formation, strength and elasticity. You’ll get these nutrients from citrus fruits, dark leafy green vegetables and berries.

For Vitamin A, sustainably caught seafood, good quality eggs and organic butter are all fantastic.

Vitamin E can be boosted with nuts and seeds, especially almonds and sunflower seeds, avocado, peanuts and real peanut butter. Yum!

All of these have the added benefits of being rich in antioxidants, so you get more skin goodness when you eat more of these foods.

3. Avoid foods that inflame or irritate skin

One of the most common skin irritants is dairy food. High dairy consumption is common in people with acne-prone skin. You may want to reduce or avoid dairy for a while if acne affects you.

We know too much coffee and alcohol are dehydrating, but alcohol can also cause skin flushing and redness. Long-term consumption is associated with broken capillaries too. Be mindful of your alcohol consumption, always.

4. Eat high quality protein

There’s a lot of talk about collagen and collagen supplements lately, but collagen alone is not the only way to improve skin. Your body makes collagen when it has a good supply of quality protein. We need all the amino acids to create proteins in the body, and collagen is one of those creations. Eat a range of protein including pasture-raise eggs and poultry, nuts, seeds, sustainable non-farmed fish and grass-fed meats. One of the best foods to increase amino acids and collagen production is bone broth, available in many health food stores.

5. Use gentle natural ingredients on your skin

The nutrients that support skin on the inside do the same from the outside too. Choose skincare products that contain natural sources of skin boosting vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and amino acids. Manuka Honey and Kakadu plum are great examples. Kakadu plum is actually world’s most concentrated source of Vitamin C. Royal Jelly is rich in collagen-forming amino acids and is a potent source of Vitamins A, C And E. It’s pretty amazing.

That’s 5 easy and inexpensive ways you can boost your skin’s beauty every day. How many can you add to you day?
